El ver llorar a un tipo grande y fornido la mayoría de las veces me parece ridículo, y otras hasta gracioso. No me culpo por reaccionar de esa forma, estoy seguro que a muchos le debe pasar igual, y de no haber visto lo que sucedió la noche de ayer sábado 26 de septiembre durante las 10 rondas que duró la pelea entre Vitalli Klitschko y Chris Arreola, seguramente no habría entendido la razón de las lágrimas del mexicoamericano.

Las lágrimas de Arreola eran de impotencia, una impotencia que sintió al no poder hacer una mejor pelea frente al mayor de los hermanos Klitschko. Y el observarlo intentando forzar un pleito tan desigual, intentando conectar a alguien al que no podía siquiera acercársele, a alguien que siempre le recibía descargandole todo su arsenal como si estuviere haciéndolo con un costal en movimiento... Al ver aquello, a un hombre llorando con rabia por no poder comprender su suerte esa noche, a un hombre preguntándose en su cabeza ¿Qué hice mal en mi preparación? ¿Por qué no pude hacerlo mejor? ¿Qué estrategia debí seguir?... al ver aquello, entendí el valor tan grande que tiene la determinación del individuo y me paré a aplaudirle.

Realmente no me siento muy entusiasmado con la pelea que se celebrará el próximo sábado entre el campeón de peso completo del Consejo Mundial de Boxeo (CMB), el ucraniano Vitali Klitschko y el mexicoamericano Chris Arreola. Y aunque estamos en el mes patrio -un mes lleno de fiesta mexicana-, con los últimos resultados arrojados por nuestros peleadores, no es mucha la motivación que tengo.

El pesaje de la pelea entre Vitali Klitschko y Chris Arreola se celebró la tarde de ayer en las afueras del Staples Center de Los Ángeles California, Klitschko marcó en la balanza 252 libras, mientras que el mexicoamericano Chris Arreola marcó 251 libras.

Arreola tuvo que pesarse en dos ocasiones, ya que en primera instancia subió a la romana con la playera puesta, llegando a 272 libras, lo que provocó la desilusión de los miembros de la prensa y los aficionados que se dieron cita a la ceremonia del pesaje. Momentos después Arreola levantó las manos pidiendo disculpas por lo ocurrido y se quitó la playera, mostrando que llevaba un chaleco puesto que lo hizo estar más pesado. Causando risas entre los asistentes, se quitó el chaleco y dio paso a subirse de nuevo a la balanza, marcando 251 libras en su segundo intento.

Chris Arreola reconoce que "ninguna pelea es fácil", pero lo más fuerte para él es enfrentarse a sí mismo.

Observadores del boxeo lo han criticado por no entrenar bien y no estar en forma para sus peleas. Arreola admite que es un sacrificio cada vez que se prepara para un combate.

Aunque nació y se crió en Los Angeles, Cristóbal Arreola subirá al ring como la mejor esperanza mexicana hacia la consecución de un título mundial de peso completo.

El ucraniano Vitali Klitschko (37-2, 36 nocauts) se perfila como el amplio favorito, pero Arreola (27-0, 24 nocauts) ha dicho que se ha preparado para levantar el brazo en victoria en el Staples Center de Los Angeles. Ahí tendrá el apoyo de gran parte de la fanaticada, en pelea estelar que será transmitida el sábado, 26 de septiembre por HBO World Championship Boxing a partir de las 10 PM Este, 7 PM Pacífico.

Recientemente Julio César Chávez y otras figuras del boxeo mexicano se expresaron sobre este singular combate.
